Bring the same original identification used to book
GOV.UK currently says you must take the same identification used for the booking. It must be the original document, not a copy or screenshot.
The test centre also takes your photograph to confirm identity. The official guidance states that you cannot take the test and will not receive a refund if you do not bring the correct identification or refuse the photograph.
Accepted identification can change
Current booking guidance describes eVisa share codes and several document types for people who cannot use an eVisa. It also contains conditions about validity, photographs and certain expired biometric documents.
Do not rely on an old checklist, forum post or preparation website for this decision. Open the current GOV.UK page, read the accepted-identification section and compare it with your booking confirmation.
Practical test-day checklist
- Correct original identification or the current eVisa process used for booking.
- Booking details and the exact test-centre address.
- Enough travel time for delays.
- Any accessibility arrangement confirmed through the booking service.
- Only belongings permitted under the centre’s current instructions.
Family members and children cannot accompany you into the test centre under the current published guidance. Check any waiting or support arrangements directly with the official service.
If your circumstances changed
If your identification, name, accessibility requirement or ability to attend has changed, contact the official service before travelling. Do not send documents to this independent website; we cannot view or change a booking.
