Life in the UK Test Pass Mark

Understand the current 75% Life in the UK Test pass mark, why 18 correct answers out of 24 are needed and how to read practice scores.

This page covers information that can change. Confirm current requirements using the official link before making a booking or application.

You currently need 18 correct answers

The official pass requirement is 75% or more. With 24 questions, 75% equals 18 correct answers:

24 × 0.75 = 18

A score of 18 out of 24 reaches the threshold. A score of 17 out of 24 does not.

Our result page uses the exact number of correct answers for pass logic. The displayed whole-number percentage is for communication, so rounding never changes whether the threshold was met.

Do not plan for exactly 18

Reaching 18 in one practice test is not a guarantee. A different set may expose another weak area, and a practice bank cannot know which official questions you will receive.

A stronger study target is consistency: complete several mixed sessions, check performance across topics and revisit repeated mistakes. The label Consistently passing is still only a practice indicator.

What if you score 17?

Treat a near miss as useful evidence. Review whether the missed questions came from one topic, uncertain guessing or timing. Practise those errors after a delay, then take another mixed test rather than memorising the previous order.

Official and practice results are different

Only the authorised test service can issue an official result. Scores on this website remain local practice records and have no status in a citizenship or settlement application.
